Today, in art class, I told my students that they will be doing presentations on famous artists as their culminating project for the quarter. More than excited, students started raising their hands- requesting to be their favorite artist.
"Can I be Matisse?"
"I want to be O'Keefe!"
"Can I be Matisse?"
"I want to be O'Keefe!"
After the initial fevered requests and petitions, a small hand went up at the front of the room.
I called on him. He looked up at me with a toothy grin and asked,
"Miz Byrd, can I be YOU?"

Me? A famous artist?
At least my students have faith in me....thanks, guys.
